CYFC’s Scholar in Residence, Dr. Katie Lingras, will present “Responding to Challenging Behaviors: Considering Two-Generation and Infant Mental Health Frameworks in Early Care” in response to input from professionals across Minnesota. What are the most effective ways to respond to the challenging behaviors of young children? How do these two frameworks help us respond more effectively?

Dr. Lingras’ presentation will be followed by a multi-disciplinary panel of service providers reflecting on practice strategies in various settings and systems:
  • Kiran Sheikh, PsyS, Special Needs/Mental Health Manager – Community Action Partnership of Ramsey & Washington Counties Head Start/Early Head Start Program
  • Beth Kinyua-Gathetu, MS, Early Childhood Counselor – Greater Minnesota Family Services
  • Tom Scott, MD, Adjunct Professor of Pediatrics – University of Minnesota
  • Barb Fabre, CEO – Indigenous Visioning
Following these presentations, participants at all sites will be invited to participate in a Q & A session.

Lessons from the Field will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on October 29, 2018. The rest of the conference will continue in the afternoon of October 29th and all day on October 30th.
