Get Involved with Upcoming Minnesota Food Charter Events

By Jamie Bain, Extension Educator — Health and Nutrition

Do you want to learn more about what really matters to community members in your region? Are you interested in collaborating with other food systems leaders in your region? If so, we have just the thing for you!

As lead partner of engagement of the Minnesota Food Charter Network, University of Minnesota Extension is supporting eight regional Minnesota Food Charter in Action events in November 2017 to support local and regional food charter work.

Specifically, these collaborative and engaging events will advance the 4 A’s.
  • Awareness of food charter work taking place locally and regionally.
  • Aligned vision for healthy food access shared among community members, decision-makers, and food charter champions.
  • Advocacy and Action for food charter work that builds greater local and regional resiliency in the food system.
The events will bring together community members, key decision makers, and food charter champions. Regions where the events will be held are:
  • Northwest
  • Northeast
  • Southwest
  • Southeast
  • South Central
  • West Central
  • Central
  • Metro
“We are excited about getting together with people committed to providing healthy, safe affordable food for all in South Central Minnesota,” said Kelly Kunkel, University of Minnesota Extension educator, health and nutrition, in that region. “There is so much happening in our region around food access, and this event is an opportunity to hear about the great work currently happening and build on that work, including everyone's voices for the best outcome possible.”
