Military Families Learning Network Grant

The Center for Family Development has partnered with a national team to successfully receive a U.S. Department of Agriculture-National Institute of Food and Agriculture eXtension Military Families Learning Network (MFLN) grant. The MFLN includes Cooperative Extension family specialists, as well as the military family service professionals it serves. MFLN serves these professionals through engaged online communities that identify and make use of the highest quality, best practices, research- and evidence-based information, educational and curriculum materials, and programming activities and efforts.

The project includes a new MFLN concentration area, Transition Support for Families, which will be led by Sara Croymans, Extension Educator — Family Resiliency. The Transition Support for Families Area of Concentration staff will identify, develop and deliver professional development, resources and tools to increase the capacity, knowledge, and skills of a range of public and private staff who share research findings, resources, and best practices with military service members and families. "Ask an Expert" and other content will be delivered through the following communication channels:
  • Blog posts to engage a community of professional learners through online interactions and discussions
  • Webinars
  • Print content (fact sheets, briefs, infographics, interactive flyers)
  • Online mini course/learning modules using Moodle
  • Video and/or audio channels, such as podcasts, Google Hangout, Camtasia Studio, Sparkol, Plotagon, and YouTube
Content will be promoted through a variety of social media channels. The grant continues through September 29, 2015.
