Military Families Learning Network

In this podcast, MFLN Family Transitions team members Ellie McCann and Sara Croymans discuss how military families can use the FACTS resiliency framework to help navigate transitions. Ellie and Sara are both University of Minnesota Extension educators in family resiliency.

Public Health ‘Champions’ Recognized
Crookston Times

Megan Hruby, SNAP-Ed educator with U of M Extension, was among those honored as a public health champion by the Polk County Public Health agency in April. “As a member of the Polk County Wellness Coalition, Megan exemplifies partnerships and collaboration,” the agency said. “She works hard to bridge the gap in services between her work and partnering organizations in the region.” Read the article for more information on Megan’s work.

Financial Education for Families
University of Minnesota Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center

The work of Sharon Powell, Extension educator in family resiliency, is highlighted in this piece on the UROC website. Sharon teaches low-income individuals and families how to build money-management skills and improve their financial situations. She also helps families at all income levels improve their relationships, particularly parents and children.

Additional coverage

Extension’s participation in various community health and nutrition programs also received coverage last month. One example is the “One Vegetable, One Community” effort in Park Rapids.
