By Hannah Jastram, Communications Associate

Registration is now open for the fourth cohort Financial Educator Certificate (FEC) Program. The FEC program is an online course designed to equip community-based professionals with knowledge and skills to work with people to manage financial resources, build financial assets, and improve financial health and well-being.

Register at http://z.umn.edu/fincert.

Over the course of nine months of individual study and online interaction with peers, participants will demonstrate mastery of core financial practices, including the ability to:
  • Analyze financial situations.
  • Set goals.
  • Create spending and saving plans.
  • Build and repair credit.
  • Manage debt.
  • Access tax credits.
  • Build wealth.
The 2015–2016 FEC cohort starts on September 12, 2016 and space is limited. To hear what FEC graduates have to say about the program, watch the Financial Educator Certificate Introduction video.

Development of this program was financially supported by the Greater Twin Cities United Way. The College of Education and Human Development — University of Minnesota provided instructional design and technology production support.
